Semi Face Bricks
Semi-face bricks are used where exposed brickwork is required, but with more flexibility than full face bricks. They offer a cleaner, more consistent finish than stock bricks while allowing for natural variation in colour and texture, making them suitable for visible masonry where appearance matters but strict face-brick uniformity is not specified.

South African National Standard, SANS 227:2007 for the manufacturing of burnt clay masonry units defines class FBA (FACE BRICK AESTHETIC) as clay bricks that are selected or produced for their durability and aesthetic effect deriving from non-uniformity of size, shape or colour.
These photo samples are intended to represent general colour range and texture. Precise colour fidelity is difficult to obtain in print. Brick selection should be made from product samples.
Semi Face Bricks are beautifully appealing clay bricks that do not need to be plastered or painted. Wider tolerances are allowed on FBA bricks (also called semi-face bricks). They are a popular choice where a rough or more rustic look is required. They come in a variety of colours and textures as seen below.

FBA- Entry Grade
FBA face bricks allow greater variation in colour, texture, and surface finish. While still suitable for exposed applications, visual differences between bricks are more noticeable. This grade is often selected where budget considerations outweigh strict aesthetic control.
